Dear Future Homeowners,

When we moved to 53 Plymouth 22 years ago, we never thought we would live here for so long, but we just couldn’t leave this street and neighborhood. As our children grew up here, they had friends up and down the street to play with, and could walk to school and town easily. We have so many friends on our block and have enjoyed many block parties, backyard events, and smaller gatherings. When we were commuting into the city, we could catch the jitney or walk less than a mile to the train.

So rather than move, we made MANY improvements to this house to make it a comfortable, inviting home. We renovated almost the entire first floor, adding a vestibule, creating a foyer and mudroom, adding a powder room, and expanding the kitchen to make it a central place for our family and friends. Our primary bedroom suite is a sweet retreat at the end of a long day. We also made a lot of less exciting but important improvements — fixed the garage, replaced the roof and driveway, updated the electrical service, added waterproofing to the basement, etc.

We’ve watched many sporting events and movies in our living room and love how easy it is to warm up by our gas fireplace. Now that we work from home more often, the Maplewood room serves as a perfect zoom room, with great light and a beautiful backdrop. The sitting parlor and side porch are perfect for a little break during the day.

And our backyard is just one of the best. It’s extra deep so you will never run out of room! We’ve hosted many birthday parties and other events and there’s plenty of room for inflatables, water activities, and more! We added a heavy duty fence when we got our dog so no worrying about pets or little ones. 

We love the schools, restaurants, houses of worship, parks, and overall community in Maplewood and South Orange. There’s no place quite like these towns and we think 53 Plymouth is a perfect home in which to enjoy them.
